Wooly things

I know i know! you wouldnt think this is a crafty blog, but I have been busy what can i say, and a good chunk of what i am making are gifts.
But anyway i thought i would share with you a little yarn stash i have been gathering for a few weeks

there was 6 balls of this, lovely Wendy Pampas Chunky.
wanna see what im making with all this wool?

i thought it was super cute, and picked my favourite colour, its a really easy knit but its now huge and i cant take it anywhere, coz its so heavy.

Its got quite hard work now, it has 60 stitches on the needle (just) and you do a sequence of K,P,K,K,P,K so i like to do it the 6 row sections or i will get lost but with so many stitches it takes ages to do those 6 rows lol.
So what else....

My crochet is coming along nicely, i think i have finally cracked it, using the fabulous Attic 24 pattern, i have used Baby Rico yarn on this. I really want to give this to my friend next saturday on her baby shower but will see.

Kool Kotton by James Brett, is a recent discovery and not by me by my chum Heather, she has just finished a lush blanket it in here. I plan on making a cushion with these for the new house, when i have finished the billion other things i am doing lol.
Speaking of James Brett, whilst i was home i stumbled across some lovely wool in my LYS (local yarn store, i just learnt that)

This is pure Merino (as you might of guessed) but instead of the £5+ you would normally pay for this from Debbie Bliss (love her but cannot afford her wool) this was £2.79 which i thought was pretty good, and the colours are really cute, i have a special project in mind for one of those colours, so may have to go and purchase some when i am next home, which is next weekend for baby shower. (thats sentence literally had no full stops in, i type how i speak sadly for you which is very fast without much pausing).

purple is my new favourite, and i love this Wendy mode chunky, its 50% merino and its about £2.75 a ball and you get loads, so i bought this for a project for me.
What else... I know it looks bad but i have been storing all this up.

This wool is a super super bargain, they have some fab colours and although its acrylic its really soft hence the 'special' i got this from LYS at home and it was £1.35 a ball bargain, it varies between £1.25 online and £1.60 in shops. But i really like it, i thought it was great for little baby cardigans, I plan on using this lots for like everything.

also some more needles, i normally pinch them off my mam if i dont have what i need but she said out of all her needles the 3 1/4 ones were the only ones she would use it she ever knit, so i felt bad and got my own.

something my mam swears by, she makes every baby item in wendy peter pan, so i spotted this lovely pink, and figured surely someone will have a girl so got it. This is what im planning on knitting little daisy cardigan

how cute, just hope im clever enough. This pattern is from this great pattern book that my friend has lent me

its really cute, i'll show you what i like...

not sure i am quick enough to make these before all the babies arrive which is mainly next month eeekkk!

Well thats about it for now, i am gonna be organised and blog now for tomo and then just press publish before i run out the door to the train station, where am i going now? why to see this lady of course

eeekk I'm super excited all the weekend birthday fun we are gonna have this weekend! Woo!

hooking

In the past week i have seriously become addicted to crochet, i feel like i have finally got the hang of it and this makes me jolly happy :)
As you know the amount of babies that my friends are currently 'growing' is insane. So as much as i like making baby cardigans and such, i loved the Ripple Blanket Heather had been making.
So i copied, and the lovely Lucy over at Attic 24 released this great pattern and i did it, i spent a night sitting and i managed it so hurray. So i wanted to show you how far i had got with it.

then it was kidnapped :(

and this is how it was looking yesterday.
I used turquoise, green, ice blue and cream here (the green is a bit green thou)
Im feeling pretty impressed with myself, i dont think i have made any mistakes, its maybe not terribly neat but i think it and i hope which ever baby this goes to likes it too.

So because I'm a all or nothing kinda gal i was like i can make everyone else, so i ordered a ton of yarn, i got it from here and here, its really soft and a good price.
So my lovely father in law went to robs work (where my parcels get delivered) and picked up my lovely new wool for me yippee!

So i need some opinions here

this is reserved for my lovely friends baby, who is going for the primary colours approach in her nursery, babies are not meant to be in pastel, they cant see it, they see bright colours apparently.
so do you like those 4 or..

5 with the turquoise in? i just dont know, answers on a postcard.
these are red, turquoise, grass green, orange, and petrol, (petrol is my fave)

4 colours or...

or 3? (red, turquoise, beige)
All of these babies are lovely neutral surprise babies, which is why i'm trying to not be too boy ish (which is easy without pink) and obviously none have pink because as soon as you put pink in its for a girl. Surely someone will have a girl.
so which colours do you think?
So in scrapping news, i have just received the June Sarah's cards kit which im dying to use and some fabulous blog work, so im gonna get going that. be back later with some new shop colours.
thanks for stopping by xx

Spring is back

So after lots of rain last week we havent had any for ooh at least 24 hours, the sun is flooding in my room today and I'm loving it, I can see its really windy and I bet its cold but in my little room its full of sunshine.
So I wanted to show you something today, I have been working on a new quilt, I started this ages ago literally some point last yr, I first put the squares together and today its finished yippee

How Spring like is that? I used the fabby Amy Butler fabric, the last from my stash from America, foolishly i got 4x4 this from what I recall took me about a million years to sew together, but I'm pleased with how it looks, I think the hot pink binding really sets it off. You cant see as I didn't take a photo but the back is lime green cord which is lush but my sewing machine didn't much enjoy the thickness lol.
I think i would like to make some quilted cushions for my new house, got lots of time to prepare lol, speaking of cushions my lovely mate Heather is making me a lovely cushion using some Rowan 4ply, that I darent go near, for those non knitters Rowan is fancy and 4ply is stupidly thin and I wont go anywhere near it, so heather kindly took it off my hands to make me a lovely cushion for my house, this is what she did just sat at mine yesterday.

this girl is mighty quick.
So that leads me nicely onto our craft afternoon yesterday, after our tea party we headed back to mine and this is what we got up to.

Cakes, we had lots of cakes, I made some Fran bought some, there were lots of cakes.

I pilled some of my yarn at Heathers feet.

I did a spot of knitting of my 20s hat

Fran decided she wanted to make a card so got some inspiration (note comedy sided ball of wool)

she then stole my desk and made this

pretty darn good for first ever card huh? Yes I'm pretty jealous
So whilst Fran was quiet in the corner (literally) Heather got to teaching! You might recall she also tried to teach me on her last day in Leeds back in November. Safe to say I forgot everything lol
So today I was learning the granny square and this is how we got on

Pretty sure the last photo is where I went wrong lol ,but I did it! I used some of my erm lovely acrylic and did this

I'm pretty impressed with myself, if you fancy giving it a try she has a tutorial for exactly this on her blog right here.
And that was my day, I sat and worked on my 20s hat most of the night, the 20inch band i had to know is at about 14 inch now so nearly there, but I have spotted a tiny little project i might try like now

cute isnt it? now all the things you see like this are normally crochet and as you can tell im not quite there yet but this one is knitting and moss stitch which is one of my faves yippee.
Hope you are all having a lovely Easter, with no easter egg hunts or bunnies here we have kinda just made stuff and ate some chocolate, ok I made stuff Rob played on his game, but I thought I would leave you with this lovely pic. Happy Easter x
