Baby Girls first quilt

So I did it (last weekend actually) I finally finished the quilt i was working on for baby girl

I havent showed you too much but its been hanging around for a while.

I got my fabric from here  Its Riley Blake Little Red Riding Hood.

So yes this has been a big old project, I have made a fair few quilts in my time and many for my friends babies but i wanted this one to be a step up. My friend Vic helped me with the measuring and cutting and i got to sewing it together. I did this other  couple of weeks, then it was left for a bit.

I couple of weeks ago I got rob to do the good old crawling on the floor bit to lay the wadding out etc so i could start the quilting bit.

So yes after a few very hot hours last weekend under this quite large quilt i finished!

Yay!

I am beyond proud of it and i cant wait to put baby girl on it.

It has a dusty pink back on it, (which you dont need to see lol )

and there you have it, a big fat tick on the list.
There are many things i want to make before baby comes but this along with the floor cushion and the blanket i'm knitting were high on my list so it feels great to have it done.

So there you go all finished yippee!!!!!!

Quilting for Violet

Hello, So I thought its time I shared something crafty related! So way back when I found out that Vic was having a girl i went online and bought some fabric to make a quilt. I cant remember where i got it or what its called, No I'm lying it was Quilty pleasures.

Anyway so how is Violet?? She's blooming gorgeous!

She is really into scratching her face so has to have her mitts on, i got this cute photo during the speeches at the wedding i was at last weekend, don't worry it was on silent.

The girl knows how to vogue!

Anyway, when Vic text me on the 29th June to tell me she was in labour (this was her actual due date) i got up super early and was sewing at like 6am working on the quilt. I made great progress, I had sewn the top up so it was just the actual quilting bit to do.

I got it all done but ran out of binding on one of the sides of the quilt, so i had to make a dash to the market in the week to get some more.

I love that I can make things for her and can't wait to make more things.

I few days after i gave it to her i got this lovely photo!

Funny story, I was there when she bought that babygro it was the day after we found out she was having a girl and we went out on our lunch hour and bought some baby girl things!

So I thought you might want to see some more cute pics.

I can't obviously get to see Violet all the time so i request a photo a day!

So these are some corkers!

cute!

oh yes we went round for quick visit last sunday.

rocking the shepherd look!

Now this photo, violet is rocking a tiny knit my mam made for her, given i have known vic for a million years my mam of course knows her really well too (thats what a million sleep overs will do)

How cute does she look???

So there you go, I have been trying to focus on some big knits lately, which i will share soon so nothing to show you on that front lately but I'm trying.

 Thanks for stopping by

Todays Plan of action

Every weekend i give myself a insanely long list of things i want to get done, i rarely get everything done coz they are seriously long. 2 weeks ago it had 26 things on it, ranging from blogging, to scrapping, to knitting whole garments, to sewing, i got 9 done that weekend.
Last weekend there was 12, mainly from the week before but i had been a little more realistic this time i got, i got 6 things done lol.
Today I have 7, but one includes do at least 15 scrapbook pages (yeah yeah) and the another is make a quilt.
I showed you my lovely Early Bird fabric before but here is another peak
Pretty huh?
So i want to make it into something even prettier, my previous quilts have literally just been fat quarters chopped up, but today i fancy being a bit more daring.
All these lovely quilts are available to download for free from the Amy Butler sight as well as tons of other stuff.
So they are my plans, I'm going to do my best to avoid the internet today as its a time sucker!
Oh yes i have a cute photo to show you
This is baby Katrin, shes cute, im guessing she is smaller than thought as that little baby grow is a little big lol.
Right im off to have a super productive day, scrapping, sewing and knitting all in the same day lucky me huh!
have a great saturday whatever you are up to xx

Pretty things on the horizon

Hi gang, how you doing today? survive your wednesday? this week feels long and its only wednesday. Which is probably why I am so excited about the weekend. Every bank holiday or day off i plan a million billion things to do (seriously you should see my list), so I thought i would share a few things i have in mind for this weekend.

So I pass this strange shop on the way to work every day, they sell a mix of random things, I had had my eye on a couple of very random things for a while now including this.

no dont get excited im not getting a dog (yet).

lovely (erm) fleece pink cushion.
But i have big ideas for these, cue big ideas .......

pretty huh? So i thought i had best get myself some fabric, i couldnt quite stretch to the lovely but £10 a mt stuff from Amy Butler so I headed down Leeds market and picked up this...

pretty huh? it was only £2 a mt (is only poly cotton) but still yum! I wonder if rob will let me have my curtains in this fabric, Rob?
So as one of the cushions is a floor cushion/dog bed (£5 btw) I needed something sturdy (as my mam would say) for the back, I have used this fabric before for some cushions and the back of my most recent quilt.

its actually lime green cord yum!
So thats my plans for the weekend, i also might have gone back for another metre to make the 20 min skirt i made a few months ago (am actually wearing it now).

Oh yes i was going to show you something else cute and dotty

how cute are my new tea towels? i popped them in the trolley in Tesco the other day but at £4 i think i might cut them up and cover a cushion in them lol.

so one final thing, this photo has been sat on my desk for 2 weeks now, i had been meaning to scrap it for ages and didnt get round to it, but today 1 week later i have scrapped it (will show you tomo)

my little teddy bear :(

Not to end on a sad note, i will be doing the blog anniversary giveaway tomo night, so be there or be square.
night xx
p.s roll on the weekend

Spring is back

So after lots of rain last week we havent had any for ooh at least 24 hours, the sun is flooding in my room today and I'm loving it, I can see its really windy and I bet its cold but in my little room its full of sunshine.
So I wanted to show you something today, I have been working on a new quilt, I started this ages ago literally some point last yr, I first put the squares together and today its finished yippee

How Spring like is that? I used the fabby Amy Butler fabric, the last from my stash from America, foolishly i got 4x4 this from what I recall took me about a million years to sew together, but I'm pleased with how it looks, I think the hot pink binding really sets it off. You cant see as I didn't take a photo but the back is lime green cord which is lush but my sewing machine didn't much enjoy the thickness lol.
I think i would like to make some quilted cushions for my new house, got lots of time to prepare lol, speaking of cushions my lovely mate Heather is making me a lovely cushion using some Rowan 4ply, that I darent go near, for those non knitters Rowan is fancy and 4ply is stupidly thin and I wont go anywhere near it, so heather kindly took it off my hands to make me a lovely cushion for my house, this is what she did just sat at mine yesterday.

this girl is mighty quick.
So that leads me nicely onto our craft afternoon yesterday, after our tea party we headed back to mine and this is what we got up to.

Cakes, we had lots of cakes, I made some Fran bought some, there were lots of cakes.

I pilled some of my yarn at Heathers feet.

I did a spot of knitting of my 20s hat

Fran decided she wanted to make a card so got some inspiration (note comedy sided ball of wool)

she then stole my desk and made this

pretty darn good for first ever card huh? Yes I'm pretty jealous
So whilst Fran was quiet in the corner (literally) Heather got to teaching! You might recall she also tried to teach me on her last day in Leeds back in November. Safe to say I forgot everything lol
So today I was learning the granny square and this is how we got on

Pretty sure the last photo is where I went wrong lol ,but I did it! I used some of my erm lovely acrylic and did this

I'm pretty impressed with myself, if you fancy giving it a try she has a tutorial for exactly this on her blog right here.
And that was my day, I sat and worked on my 20s hat most of the night, the 20inch band i had to know is at about 14 inch now so nearly there, but I have spotted a tiny little project i might try like now

cute isnt it? now all the things you see like this are normally crochet and as you can tell im not quite there yet but this one is knitting and moss stitch which is one of my faves yippee.
Hope you are all having a lovely Easter, with no easter egg hunts or bunnies here we have kinda just made stuff and ate some chocolate, ok I made stuff Rob played on his game, but I thought I would leave you with this lovely pic. Happy Easter x
