Blanket & knitting fun

I'll be honest when I've got a bee in my bonnet I'm terrible. I've had the urge to knit Martha another blanket. I wanted a really bright fun one. In a couple of months she will be moving out of her pram into her pushchair (sob).
Her pram is red but her car seat is a bright jade green.

So yes I have been wanting to make a zigzag/chevon blanket having seen a couple of my friends making them, so I used some of my birthday pennies, hopped over to Wool Warehouse and bought some.

It is mainly RICO which is what I did he'd last blanket in plus one Debbie Bliss as it was a nice colour.

Now knitting time is seriously reduced now but Martha was happy kicking on her mat so I sat on the floor with her and cast on.

I was clearly on a roll as I got loads done that evening once she was in bed.

It's a easy enough pattern that you remember quite quickly. Stitch markets are the key though.

And yesterday it looked like this

And then this

I'm really enjoying it and its going much faster than I thought. Just trying to add a row here and there, baby willing.

I bought a little more wool with my birthday pennies. I admit being on mat leave its quite a novelty to have extra pennies.

I caved and got this. I have been after some for a while but it's £5 a ball & u need 2 balls. It's like £2 in the Stated which is why I've been dragging my feet.

I also got this one too.

Ironically you can only get this American yarn from Great British Yarns.

I have cast on some socks already and really enjoying the simple pattern.

Whilst I'm blogging on my phone I can't link anything but both the blanket and the socks are linked on the side to my ravelry page, both free patterns.
Speaking of which, Hannah Fettig (the designer) has a buy one get one fee offer on her patterns till the 16th. I've knit get Rocky Coast in the past, so I splashed out and got the mini version to do Martha one. The Knitmore girls podcast are doing a 'mommy & me' KAL so hoping I can use these too.

Right that's all for now. Let me know what you are knitting.

Hi there, I just found you on twitter, and came over to have a nosy at your blog. I'm finding the similarities between us a bit spooky - I've got a baby boy who is 21 weeks, I'm guessing that's about the age of your lovely girl, and I've just started crochet-ing him a zig-zag blanket for his pram. He's our first baby, and we've got an almost identical picture of him on his baby-gym with me knitting in the background. Love your blog, keep up the good work! Eilidh xx

...and sorry if you got two versions of that post, my internet is patchy tonight and I didn't realise it had sent. This is definitely my last message!
