Neutral ish!

Hello! How are you? good week? Nice its friday huh? So i thought i would pop by and show you the blanket i finished last weekend. So a couple of weeks ago Laura asked if i would make a blanket for her friend, her friend had admired the one i made for baby Abi so you know how could i say no.

I was told she didnt know the sex of the baby so it needed to be neutral thankfully this didnt mean, whites, lemons, etc so off i went.

I was told i had 2-3 weeks, a week later i got a txt to say the baby hat been born lol.

I used Attic 24 Granny stripe pattern.

I love making these and am really pleased with the colour.

So there you go, i am now on 4 Finished Objects of 2012 and its not even the end of January!

I need to photograph the other two properly and i'm aiming to have another one finished this weekend.

I'm also aiming dare i say it to finish my Doc 2011 tomorrow, i just have a few bits to do and most of it is photographed so im hoping i can get that done tomorrow.

But for now i have my ngihbourly chums coming round soon and im gonna try and sneak in a tiny bit of knitting.

A Knitters Dream!

Hi guys, so I thought i would come over and show you some photos of our awesome weekend away. Natalie drove us over after work on friday to Keldy, we made it in 1 1/2 hours this was awesome, so many of our weekend away trips are so far so this was ace.

The cabin was fab, seriously in the middle of no where, we knew there would be no internet but there was no signal either so yes very different but everyone got much more knitting done because of it.

So here are some photos, obvs we were just sitting round knitting all day so no thrilling photos lol but cute anyway.

My main task this weekend was to get my latest baby blanket.

I had to relocate to the bedroom to do some tricky knitting

and there was a hot tub! It was awesome, i have not been in one for ages, i went in twice, i had to buy a costume but made the most of it.

So there you go, Forest Holidays, Keldy, North Yorkshire, it was a bargain and completely awesome. Perfect place to go and knit, and even a big table so i managed to do 2 of the fastest scrappy pages in the land lol

I have been packing tonight for my weekend away, thanks for the advice on what to take, i started off well with like 4 projects then 3 more snuck in and i cast on something new. How did that happen??

What to do???????

I need some advise, this weekend me and a few knitting gals are heading a bit north (thats right north not crazy down south like normal) to a fabulous weekend of knitting in a gorgeous cabin.

So the main problem im having is what to take with me. Do i do the sensible thing and take say 2 things, and if im sick of one i do the other?

Do I take my old WIP, and old i mean my poor Laar which i really want but i havent touched it since erm July maybe.

I started this in October i did 2 rows too many to do the lace rows so i need to frog 2 rows then start the lace but erm i dont like doing lace.

Oh man my stupid cardi i have already knit once and just dont want to knit again but i do want the cardi. help!

And of course Laika which is a tricky old knit or it is for me.

I think i will take this one, i have added some photos below of what it will look like when its done. I Really want this. So in theory you should knit spring/summer things in winter and winter things in the summer.

its so pretty i want it so much, im sure if i pick it up and tried to remember what to do i would get back into it again.

So do i take

a- lots of things

b- not a lot of things say 2

c- only old projects

d- start some new fabulous things

Help!

I have completely unrealistic expectations of how i can get done but a whole friday night, a whole saturday and most of sunday knitting, surely i will get loads done right?

I am also going to be taking my Kindle and maybe some scrappy stuff, DVDS and Nats is taking the Wii so our arms dont fall off with all the knitting.

Gaps

So a couple of weeks ago i was going through my albums and putting them in date order, a few of my chums have done this and i thought it was a good idea, maybe only for 2011 as it would be a giant job lol.

But when you do it in date order you see gaps, doing my Doc 2011 has used all the 'events' so i havent scrapped a great amount in 2011, so the other day i went through and scrapped a few photos that were 'missing'. I didnt get far in the year, so this is March and scrapping my baby bunnies.

Yes im sure rob isnt going to be too chuffed im putting photos of him in his dressing gown for all the world to see, but we arent looking at him we are looking at these gorgeous bunnies, who used to sit all snuggled up.

I got a ton of sassafras stickers from a sale somewhere online so have been all about them lately.

These are the photos we took the week before we went to pick them up, the next day i got engaged lol.

I still have loads of gaps to fill in, especially towards the end of the year when i all but stopped scrapping but i will catch up soon. Especially now i have my new fancy desk which i have been really enjoying sitting at.

I sat there the other day and finished my JYC so i shall be back with that soon.

I also started Dec 2011 pages so thats nearly finished too.

5 days!

So as mentioned last week i appear to have become addicted to Granny Stripes, completely addicted, i started a blanket for a friend of a friend on sunday and now.

It is done!

It is just a baby blanket so not huge but still, 5 days is pretty impressive, my arm may never forgive me though.

I am really proud of it, I need to get it posted ASAP, i have started another one.

So my beautiful bunnies turned one yesterday so to celebrate i thought i would show you 1,000's of photos of them through out 2011.

They were born in Jan 2011 and we got them in March, so this is a year (9mths) in their life

oh man they are all completely out of order but you can see them getting bigger right?

This was yesterday, they are in their indoor cage in the patio and peaked out the door into the frosty garden as i put the bin out lol

Ah they are blooming cute right? We completely love having them, they are seriously gorgeous, they dont much like sitting on your knee/being held but seeing them play together and sit and clean each other is the cutest things i have ever seen.

Best 2 decisions we ever made

Yesterday 14th January 2012 was a special day, It has been one year since we moved into our house!

A whole year can you believe it? We cant, we love our house.

Rob very much wanted to own a house before we got married, while i stamped my feet wanted to get married, but alas i see what he meant now.

So here are a few pics of way back last year when we were all setting up.

This feels like donkeys ago.

I would post photos of what it looks like now but you now we live here now and its messy lol.

So what was the other best decision we ever, well..

our 2 gorgeous bunnies also turned one yesterday, how funny is that??

Plan 'o' Action

So 2012 is here and Im trying to make a plan of action for my knitting, i always have tons of WIP as you can see from my sidebar but I'm trying to focus!

So this is my plan, I'm aiming to have 3 projects on the go (i realise i have more than that but i am focusing on 3)

1- So I need a project for the bus! Something little, easy, and preferable done in the round.

So currently it is this, a pair of socks that has been on my needles since October! October! how bad is that?? But i am now on my 2nd sock, i got all of this done on the bus and my lunch hour, quite chuffed with that.

2- I need something a little bit tricky and a little bit bigger to do in the evenings but that is too big really for the bus.

So this is my Daybreak, it is quite a big shawl, bit trickier than the usual ones i do but quite easy too once you get going. Im using some Knitpicks yarn, I have waited to make this for a while and enjoying it though these rows are long.

3- I need something big, like a card/jumper or something

so for this i have my blanket which i am loving. I have another one lined up for my friend thats having her 2nd baby in May.

I have to say i am struggling not to cast on new things, but i have a few things i have lined up for my next round of items.

Addicted!

So I learn something new yesterday, a friend of mine asked me to make a blanket for her friends baby girl, I wouldn't normally but what can I say!

I was a bit bored of Ripples so thought I would try Granny Stripe blanket, id heard they were loads quicker and easy!

So I got my colours

All stylecraft- meadow, fondant, silver and pomegranate!

I followed Attic 24 instructions and got practising!

-Luckily I had a sample from Heather for ages ago so with that and the instructions I was flying along!
I chained 115!

And off I went, I decided to do 4 rows of one colour so I wasn't changing all the time and less ends to sew in!

I couldn't put it down

Ive now finished the green and started on the pink again! I had to use some willpower to put it down and cast off my sock!

But yes I appear to be a tad addicted!

New Desk

So I have been moaning about my craft room for ages, and yes i know loads of people scrap on the floor but to have a craft room and not to like it then something is very wrong. So with my birthday pennies i went out and bought a desk, well i call it a desk, its a table but thats what i wanted.

I had had a fancy desk with shelves and stuff but what i wanted was space, just a long table with SPACE.

So thats what i went for! All i got was the table top which was 150cm (it fit in the car) and some legs!

The draws were very nice but were £44!

My whole desk was £28

I really wanted more light so i put myself in the window!

Im using my old old desk as shelving which is naughty but you know!

space!

So there you go, im aiming to sell my big corner desk i used before, which is still in the room with the whole world of stuff on top of it so i could take this tidy photo.

So im planning on spending some daylight time here today, catch up on Doc 2011- think im on Novembers little pages so quite close.

What else?

So what else have i been up to? Loads and loads! After our hectic crimbo we had a fair few hectic but good days over new years, insane amount of photos, i'm sorry!

So on NYE I met Heather for some city centre friend time!

I got the most beautiful blanket for my birthday, seriously how lucky am i?

I got some fabby xmas presents too.

I did a bit of sale/birthday/xmas money shopping and headed home to pack as we were going up home for a few days! yes days not weeks, this pile also didnt include the bunnies which we also took up home with us lol.

I opened more birthday presents when i got there.

and then it was midnight! 2012 had arrived! I have been waiting for it to be 2012 for literally years, i always told rob in a very none pressure like way i wanted to get married in 2012 so yay!

poor rob worked all between xmas and new yr apart from my birthday so he was pooped and also stole my blanket.

1st Jan- we were up early to visit Elijah and our friends, thats his present hes sat on we got him a aquadoodle!

Then we raced back home as robs parents and my granny/sister were coming to my parents for a soirée , yes we are a fan of that word.

did i tell you i got a Kindle for christmas from rob? well i did and i love it along with my gorgeous Cosmo cover, i can now read and knit hurray!

After everyone left we went to the pub to meet up with one of my school friends who now lives in Sweden, we are trying to make a point of meeting up with friends who are coming to the wedding and meeting there partners etc.

So 2nd Jan- The 3rd was my grannies 80th Birthday so my sister arranged for the whole family to go for a meal i think there are about 20 of us, rob had to swap some days so he could make it.

So 100s more photos- oh and can I add my granny sadly lost one of her teeth at our soirée how is that for timing and it was her front tooth, bless her.

we went back to my aunties crazy gorgeous farm house up the road

Then got back to Leeds and watched Sherlock.

3rd- A very dark rainy journey to work, but thankfully rob had to be in early so drove me right to the door

i had a bit of kindle/knitting on my lunch

then completely flopped when i got in, the day had really taken it out of me, so we watched a couple of Red Dwarf episodes and i promptly fell asleep crazy early.

4th- Rob had day off so came home to all the decorations all packed away!

Safe to say i am looking forward to doing nothing this weekend, poor rob is working all weekend to make is 2nd jan back, but im planning on not leaving the house.

2011 Knits

So I had a quick look at my Ravelry page and i appear to have done about 55 knits of 2011, thats impressive right?

So I made my first garment, this was quite a tricky first garment

First jumper, i have since made 3 more plus 3 baby versions

first pair of socks

now what was my hardest knit? I dont knit things that are that hard and its something i need to work on, but this was a absolute pain

I am not a fan of knitting things in pieces and putting it together, it didnt help i did one of the fronts wrong and had to start again!

Also this tiny cute baby cardi was also loads harder than i thought, i thought i would make loads but nope! Just the one!

Now this is my favourite knit of 2011- and its my Leaflet, its cute and i want another one.

So how about the rest?

So yeah quite a bit right?

No wonder i dont scrap i can make clothes man! Yes im ignoring the fact i have a degree in this very thing lol but still i can KNIT CLOTHES!

So last friday (30th) I turned 29! Crazy huh! So here are a few pics of our day.

It was just me and rob for my birthday, our only one over the xmas 'break' that was just me and he.

It rained all day long but we still had a nice day.

we eventually decided to go to Ikea for my birthday lol odd i know but i got some pennies so i went to buy a new desk/table for my craft room in an attempt to like it again!

we made a rainy walk over to TGI for some yummy food

It made us think about our lovely Florida holidays as we were in TGI all the time!

So then we went to blockbuster and got some dvds and headed home.

Not before building my desk but more on that another day.

I got my first Jellycat for my birthday yay!

I got loads of lovely other things, like a mini globe coz i never know where anywhere is, dvds, dressing gown, moisturisers, candles, photoframe, biscuit tin, postcards loads of lovely things.

Hi all, I have meaning to come over here and wish you all a happy new year for days, 4 actually lol but these are busy days. I had planned loads of blogs in my head, its been my birthday, new year, lots of things to do, so i will start of with some posts on my christmas knits.

4 Christmases

Hello, So how was everyones christmas? Mine was fabulous, thanks for asking.

So I thought i would stop by and show you some pics of our christmas.

It was a bit hectic, but great fun.

This was the first year me and Rob spent christmas eve together in our own house, it was really nice but felt odd, but nice odd.

the bunnies were super excited.

Christmas No 1- We had to get up super early to fit anything in so didnt take pics, well we have one of Wilma

Christmas No 2, Next we headed to Robs parents to open presents. Its about 8.15 and we were dressed and ready and out the door.

Christmas No 3- We then headed up the motorway to my parents house.

Rob in his new scarf (more on that later)

Christmas No 4- Next stop was my sisters house which is in the same town as my parents, she was 'hosting' this year so off the 9 of us went.

After a great day we headed back to my parents, and i did what every normal person does on xmas night, i wound some yarn lol

Rob got me a Kindle which is awesome, I havent really read much lately coz im always knitting, and only got one pair of hands, so im aiming to be able to prop it up and read while i knit. And i can have all my patterns on there as well yay!

Tinkers

I just thought i havent been talking about my bunnies for a while have i? They are as gorgeous as ever, for the past few weeks they have been living inside. I know its not exactly cold outside, certainly not compared to last year but it was dark when i saw them in the morning and dark at night and i missed those little fluffy buns.

So they have been in the living room (not their permanent home) and entertaining us no end.

Terribly photos i know but i never seem to use my 'proper' camera these days.

Its hard to believe these girls are related, they are SO different, Wilma has always been the confident one thats first into everything and Olive has always been the one thats ran away like we are trying to pull her ears off.

So they were out 'playing' the other day and Wilma found our Advent calendar

Then she somehow found the birthday wrapping paper i may have been hiding under the coffee table, she thought it was very exciting.

I thought it was time i gave them something proper to play with so found them a box

Olive thought this was much more exciting

and so they explored. It was something to hide in so Olive was happy.

And then very thoughtful as she looked out the window. Have you see How to train your Dragon? I think Olive looks like the little black dragon. She is also sitting on a 'pizza box' which they also thought was exciting.

Hi all so I thought i would pop by and show you a few pics, On saturday i had a little Soirée, it was hit and miss if I could have it but i was feeling much better so we went with it. My family, Robs family, happy times.

WIP vs Startitus

Its been a reasonable while since i have done a knitting post, all i seem to be doing is knitting, but as the christmas knit list end is in site im getting excited. I know perfectly well i should be workin on these.

My dennis jumper, this just needs the sleeves which are supposed to be short but that seems impractical. But this is the one that is the closest to being finished.

this was my poor cardi i had to rip out, cant tell you how uninspired i am to work on this zzzzzz!

My Laika, which still has a crazy amount of work to be done on it.

Who's idea was it to knit a lace weight cardi? yeah i know stupid, this may be finished before i die

HHHMM!

Now these items keep distracting my eye.

So picking up, 8th. It is hot in our stupid office like all the time, very hard to feel like xmas when you are melting, hard to think anyone chooses to be in the warm for christmas eek!

So every year i try and do Journal Your Christmas i most years i fail terribly, normally because i cant print the photos at the time. This year me and my scrappy chums who are all busy gals are making a extra effort and you know what? Im keeping up. My pages were pre made (thankfully) so all im adding really is what i did that day and if nothing was interesting enough to take a photo then im journalling. I have stacks of photos so i will do half today and half tomorrow.

2nd was noted how blooming freezing it was

So the 3rd was the first day i had a photo which will be this one, of us chilling out knitting with my sis and watching xmas films. Do you like my little sketch?

4th we went to our friends for dinner and had to de ice the car to get home because it had been snowing.

5th some hidden journalling as it was a funny old day, but i did pick up my wedding ring its BEAUTIFUL!

6th ah! this was the day i got my lovely sheep mug

7th We got a lovely card that said Daughter and Fiance on it, our first and only christmas as fiances

Plan 'o' Action

Im feeling much better now, if not still a bit less 'high energy' but well enough to think about my xmas knitting list and slightly start to panic. I would love to make loads of cute things especially for my friends kids but i'll be honest there are loads of them (there were 14 in 2010 alone).

So inspired by the Yarn Harlot's post yesterday about her xmas knitting list.

Now is not the time to panic, I shall get as much knitting done as i can this weekend, and certainly before tuesday with is the last posting day for before xmas.

I did manage to finish a little jumper tonight, i say little i always think these are quick but i'll be honest those owls take a while.

The Owlet (the 3rd Ive made) This is made with Stylecraft Aran, its the 4th size and ready for posting, hopefully tomorrow. I know my friend doesnt read by blog so its ok im showing you.

I also have a few babies on the horizon, one of my 2010 babies is onto her 2nd! So i best get thinking of some things to knit and obviously there are a million things i want to knit, or just finish would be great.

It sure has been a interesting week, Ive been meaning to show you my photos from Edinburgh all week but I have had the complete lurgy (Gastroenteritis to be exact so really nasty)! I had been feeling unwell all weekend really but got worse just as i got on the train, safe to say i had the worse train journey of my life. I have been off work all week and feeling completely guilty about it too. I've not knit a single stitch and have been too poorly to care. Today i appear to have turned a corner (i hope/pray/plead)!

So as i prop myself up on the sofa i thought i could share some photos.

so we bundled up and headed into town

we did our research and mapped out all the yarn shops.

This was K1 which had a very select amount of yarn but lovely shop

me and Emily both bought a skien of yummy Aran yet to have a project in mind.

We wondered by the christmas market which was rammed, we had planned to go back later when it was dark.

We then walked to MCAdirect, I use this company quite often online.

The shop was nice and had a fire, i had my winter boots on and coat, hat, scarf, gloves yet i was stupidly freezing so stood in front of the fire.

We went to a cute little cafe for some Hot Chocolate, then we got tempted by the yummy soup

I have to stay by this point i was feeling icky, so we just chilled out and watched films, i dont think i even did any knitting.

Sunday i felt a bit worse so we sat under the duvet and i pretty much slept all morning.

I tried to perk myself up with some invitation designing.

You dont need to hear about my horrid train journey home, safe to say i dont want to get on a train in a hurry.

So there you go, that was my weekend. I feel bad i couldnt make the most of Edinburgh.

So on a side note someone commented to ask if the punches were still available i cant get in touch with you but yes they are available.

I said i would come back and i didnt, keep forgetting about my little blog. So here I am with some pages!

So this page is for my pre wedding album, we were allowed to take some photos as i tried some dresses on which helped hugely. So I did a simple page and a bit of journalling to document all the things that had to be considered. This page is completely like my usual style but i quite like it.

Crafty/Germy Cottage

So its been a week since we went to the crafty cottage, we had a jolly old time, our main photo organiser Laura was missing so we dont have tons of grp pics but here are a few random ones.

This year we all did Secret santa, we dont normally go away as late as November so we were feeling a bit festive.

I had a bit of 'downtime' with my knitting

We went out for a lovely meal in the evening.

On sunday Laura, Will and Abi arrived so we did secret santa

I got this super cute cup and a lush little xmas house.

I managed to sneak some cuddles with the gorgeous Abi

We got packed and said bye to the horses

and headed back on the road.

So Germy Cottage, a few of the girls were sick at the weekend and naturally i caught it and as did most of the other girls, there is only Shim standing, everyone got ill!

The Red Wall

So following on from my awesome saturday I had a interesting Sunday. I had maybe the scariest driving lesson ever in some CRAZY fog.

But first lets back track to friday morning at 8.10am

I got the early bus (the one i should get to get to work on time but never make it)

I picked up a Dulux booklet thing and thought ooohhh pretty.

We had discussed putting wallpaper up but my dad kinda talked us out of it, wall prep, etc etc so i had a bee in my bonnet buzz buzz.

So i forwarded the above photo to Rob at lunch time, and said can we paint tonight.

He said i dont want to but you can! Oh ok then!

So i talked him into taking me to B&Q

he talked me into getting pricey paint, coz the 2 coat stuff we didnt last time was a paint.

FYI this Once stuff is worth its weight in gold!

So back to sunday morning, whilst Heather had to help herself to breakfast me and Rob moved some furniture.

So 2 hours later im back from my lesson and tape up the plugs, Rob had long since gone to work and Heather nearly home.

For some reason i only had about 2 feet of manoeuvring room so yes it was tricky

But look it was pretty, It was such a dark day i had to have loads of lights on.

It started it get a bit 'fumey' so i opened the door a little and before i knew it i had a visitor

Well actually i didnt know it i may have jumped a absolute mile!

I got super messy.

But it was done!

Now i just had to sit and wait for rob to get home to help me move all the furniture back.

After we had removed the tape i had to do loads of tiny touch up bits which pretty much finished me off.

But LOOK

We love it LOADS, its super cosy and i cant wait to put the tree up and it be super cosy.

Think it was about 9.30 i got to sit and knit!

So super productive super awesome weekend!

Now tomorrow i shall tell you what i am doing this weekend!

So this past weekend was all kinds of awesome, sometimes you get to the end of saturday and thing man i never got this this and this done but this one was fab. Here is how it went.

Me and Rob both had the day off woo! For some strange reason (stupid wheelie bin men) we woke up dead early randomly decided to go shopping!

So by 9.15 we were there in the shops shopping for Wedding Rings! wowzers right!

Mine is all ordered and rob saw a few he likes yippee

We had few mins to go to the Disney shop, man i miss not having one in town, and i miss the American Disney shops the UK ones are not a patch on the US ones no fair!

By about 11 we were done and hot footed it to Country Baskets to meet Natalie for her to 'get us in' ( its carded like Costo) we werent looking for anything in particular but we got a tad carried away in the fake flower section and got some for our bedroom. Not this one coz it was £6 lol

Next we flew (not literally) to look at washing machines as ours has just died, did a quick trip to Asda then got home with 10mins to spare before Heather arrived.

As Heather has mentioned on her blog I am a pretty busy gal and we arranged this day donkeys ago, seriously im booked up for all of december and a good chunk of January!

So the plan was simple we would sit and knit/hook that was all, oh yes and christmas films there needed to be xmas films and lots of them.

She liked Elf first coz its flipping awesome.

I snuggled under my Amy Butler quilt and Heather under her yummy ripple. I love days like this where you know someone enough not to have to 'host' i didnt make her a cup of tea once! I may have boiled the kettle but she just helped herself and brought her own tea bags! Like seriously lol

So there we sat from about 3pm- Midnight

We ate a mountain of pizza

Heather learnt that in our house when you finish your drink you put it on your head!

Yep thats how we roll in our house.

So more sitting and pj time

Paper & Glue

So I have slightly lost my way when it comes to scrapping for well a while now with my attention being focused on knitting. I am slowing dipping by toes back into the paper and glue field and what could be better than a fabby weekend with my favourite scrappy gal pals in a fabulous cottage in the country, not much i dont think. But i have to wait a whole week for that.

So this is what i did quite randomly did one night last week, a really old photo thats been on my magnet board for a while coz i like it and some new paper and bits.

That camera chipboard i have had for about 2 years and now it has a home.

This page a did a couple of weeks ago, i love this pic of Wilma, she is such a fluffy head.

I have decided my new scrapbooking goal is to stop using kraft ALL THE TIME for backgrounds so i am trying to use neutral backgrounds but not just card stock, so i have a nice new stock of useable backgrounds yay.

Right im gonna get off to bed now coz i am zonked!

Weekend Fun

This weekend was awesome, here is how it went.

Wilma did a awesome job of 'helping' me clean them out.

I then picked up my wedding dress, thats right! Everyone says its early but anyway i have it.

On sunday we drove up home as it was my mams birthday on Saturday.

Rob did his usual computer updates for my whole family

We had a yummy sunday dinner, with both my sisters and my brother in law

We had a 'surprise' cake for my ma!

Then we went to see Elijah, i havent seen him since the end of August :(

He is super into books at the min, it was super cute watching him and Rob read together.

There was also a little bit of playing too.

I used my new favourite app to do a bit of collage,

Then i came back home and my mam gave me a pom pom lesson

i eyed up my sisters basket of stash!

And a little pic, i likes this one :)

Then we went to my grannies for a visit and then at 9pm we started the crazy foggy journey home.

Its pretty hard to fit everything in when you are only home for the day, but with all my driving lessons and everything i cant go home for the full weekend at the minute. But hopefully that will all over soon.

So there you go, I have plans with lovely Heather this weekend, im super excited about just sitting and knitting and walking and just sitting, oh did i mention sitting??

Sorting

So it is time we got sort on our spare rooms, when we moved in certainly in one of the rooms we just not chunked everything in but things didnt have homes. So i got on a bit of a mission last week, quite out of the blue but i was on a mission so off i went.

Please do not be too horrified by these images

First i cleared out my summer shoes for winter ones

Then i sorted through my wooley draws.

I went through all my books and got rid of loads but kept my favourites

rob got to work as soon as he got in too

our wardrobes in our bedroom and super deep, i pulled out all the clothes that had been there for donkeys

and put loads of old albums in there and all my old SI, ah Scrapbook Inspirations, those were the good old days

So there you go this is a bit of a working progress but i am slowly getting there.

Christmas Knits

And so this is the season where knitters must make the decision do I do christmas knits or not. I am choosing to, however am very aware i totally lost my knitting mojo last year having knit the whole world last year.

I am trying to do anything do big but my list might beg to differ

Yeah it freaks me out if i look at it for too long lol

I do pretty much have most of the wool so there for keeping costs down, learning to drive and weddings are stupidily expensive so certainly having a 'smaller' christmas this year.

However i did have to purchase a few bits in order to do this as well as a few other bits for xmas presents.

So whats in there?

Craft Room thoughts

Just lately I really haven't been enjoying my craft room. I am extremely lucky to have one i know but i havent been 'feeling it'.

Since I went to Jenny's house and saw her beautiful room it led me to...

I think ultimately i will get rid of my corner desk and sell it and get something more like Jenny's which is from Ikea and try and fit it by the window.

There is a nip in the air

Which means one thing? Its nearly christmas, so as i was scrolling through my photos one day and i came across all the photos of the fabby new things i bought in the boxing day sale. I recall being full of cold (as i always am) and standing in the rain of the Next sale. Whilst I knew i had bought stuff its exciting to 'see' it again and I'm even more excited that in less than a month i can make my house all pretty and christmas like!

Oooohhh I am excited, everything gets very cosy and christmassy very soon.

The start of which my chum Heather is coming to Leeds for a visit next weekend and we are gonna watch christmas films and knit all day long and all night because we are having a im nearly 30 sleep over!

Now just when you thought i was a super star blogging every day last week i then fail this week, it has been busy busy getting ready for my weekend away at Sarahs Cards so here are 1,000s of photos of my little life.

So lets start with a sad looking desk, this is another story but if you pop downstairs there is a lovely empty table

ah thats better, so i got started on some of my DT work

i had a little visitor who turned out to be no help at all

then i started making some xmas cards as someone at work had asked me to yay!

I had been looking after my friends daughters hamster for half term, as well as lots of yummy things she also brought me that, im hoping you can read it to save my typing it, safe to say i love it,

Has we had a extra hour on sunday i foolishly stayed up late doing some hooking.

It was super Autumn like on the way to work, pretty huh!

so lunch time i did a bit of this

So i completely paid for my late night and crashed on monday, at this point i had already fallen asleep on the sofa, not before putting the washing on for my weekend away.

and this is when i woke up! Yay! i have completely lost the ability to sleep in so if i need more sleep i have to go to bed early.

However although i felt better the next day i was behind on my list of things i needed to do that week.

I caught the bus home which was surprisingly empty, this NEVER happens, but funnily enough happened today too.

My driving lesson was cancelled (again) so i got to work on the rest of my order for cards

Then i did my hair, speedy speedy

Then packed my scrappy bag, I am traveling light given my new hike to the train station from my new stupid office (yes it is stupid even if i do like the sausages from the canteen)

So there you go.

When i got in tonight i cleared the kitchen table (into a big pile of my scrap room floor) then go to scheduling my DT blog work for sunday, went on a driving lesson, packed some clothes and here i am.

I need some food now and sort out what knitting i shall be taking for this weekend.

Best get a move on!

Knit, Chat, Cake

I had a fabulous day yesterday at Jenny's house with Jenny (obvs), Heather, Claire and Emma

I made my train by the skin of my teeth thanks to a change in the system when picking up your tickets!

I had nearly 2 hours of knitting time

Jenny has been working on her house loads and it looks completely gorgeous, i wanted the fireplace the wallpaper, the coffee table pretty much everything

and of course, her gorgeous cats

oh man were they cute.

So we got knitting/hooking, we had some cake

Heather taught the girls some sewing in the ends thing

We had a tour round Jenny's house, I love her desk this is just what i need as i am planning to get rid on my giant corner one for something like this to sit in the window.

So everyone but me has been rippling furiously lately so they did a bit of a ripple fest photo

We're funny arent we? they look fab right?

Before me and Heather were back on the train, Heather was knitting and i was hooking, funny how things change isnt it. We stopped every now and again to ask each other questions which was nice.

Safe to say i have now started a ripple, let the christmas present making begin.

Knitting podcasts!

So I mentioned that i have recently become a bit addicted to Podcasts, Rob has been encouraging me to listen to them for ages but i have never really got on board.

I think the couple i tried werent really my cup of tea, but Leanne recommended a couple of UK ones and i have gone from there.

So i started with this one Knit, Spin, Cake, now this podcast is a UK one and not only that she is a northern soul, recorded in Newcastle, this is a really good podcast.

I think what i want from a podcast is sticking to topic, i have listened to a few where they talk about knitting but then talk just as much about wine maybe so nah! But this was is great.

Next up by Leannes recommendation was A Playful Day This one is 'set' in London, and its really great, she talks about finding a good knit night, she goes on little adventures generally great fun.

I had heard about this podcast from the above podcast, this is Subway Knits so as you can see i had crossed over the the American Podcasts, and yes they talk about wool i cant get but i have generally heard of it, This podcast is set in Brooklyn and she talks about yarn shops she goes to which makes me very excited as we are hoping to go to New York on our honeymoon (amongst other places)

So once i had listened to all of those podcasts i stubbled around to find a new one, i was completely hooked by this point, listening not just on the bus and the walk to work but putting them on while i was cooking or just sat knitting/scrapping.

Now Electric Sheep is a little bit different it is again an American one but this one has been going quite a while and sounds very professional, and although I do really like it i do like the charm of the 'handmade' I'll give podcasting a go ones, if that makes sense. None the less a very good podcast and worth a listen.

This one i came across via Subway knits, this is Yarngasm she too is in Brooklyn and they kinda know each other, i love this one, she has a great show. Its great to feel familiar with these people, they talk about wool i have heard of, pattens i know of, and talk about yarn how i think about it.

I have listened to all of these now and eagerly await the next ones.

I got stuck at this point, i tried some more, it seems quite the trend in the US to have 2 people hosting a podcast and while its not really my cup of tea i am getting used to it.

Then i came across Never not Knitting, it is again a well established podcast, When i find a podcast i tend to go back to the beginning of the year as they will still be talking about patterns i have heard of.

However i believe this one has been going 3 years so i think i am going to go back to the beginning. The great thing about this one is she has guests going knitting stories, she doesnt just do interviews (though sometimes) but fun stories by people like Debbie Bliss, Ysolda etc about funny knitting things thats happened to them. I really like this aspect.

So there you go that is my latest obsession, safe to say i now stalk them all on Ravelry and on Twitter but i am totally loving my new addiction and cant wait to hear the next one.

Focus

So I last wednesday i appear to have freaked everyone out with the amount of things i have on the go with regards to my knitting. So this week i have tried to focus in on a couple of things.

So I have been working on my 'remake' of my chunky cardi, It was a nightmare stating this again, look away now if you cant look

I have only so far got the sleeves frogged back and its taken HOURS, its a dark wool and a little bit fluffy its stupid hard work.

But alas i have made a bit of progress, i am going to unwind the yarn every now and again and now it looks like this yippee!

I have to say its a bit dull but it needs doing

So my other knit i have been working on is my $5 in Paris jumper its nearly the right length, this pattern has short sleeves and as its getting a bit nippy i think i will make long sleeves i assume i just knit and knit???

So i of course have other things on the go, including some christmas knits.

So speaking of christmas knits what i have wondered if you knit for someone for xmas do you just knit or do you knit and buy something? So say a shawl or a hat do you just do that or buy as well, im wondering what is right.

Crochet Woes!

Now I have dabbled in crochet for quite a while now but never got it 100% i dont know why i guess im just a knitter lol.

So me and my sister had a great idea to make a blanket for my Grannies 80th Birthday in January.

So we got the wool (good old stylecraft) and got going, we tried for ages to make them the same size, we went up hooks, down, this tension and that! Nightmare, now me and my sister arent very alike when it comes to making sure things are perfect. I would rather just wing things and she likes it super perfect.

Safe to say hooking 2 halves of a blanket in different cities is tricky but off i went

in the canteen

more canteen, i was feeling a bit chuffed with myself!

Then a couple of weeks ago Nic came with her blanket.

mine was erm wiggley!

so we wondered with my mam, assumed it was tension but sure my tension was the same throughout, at this point it was about 3 inches bigger than my sisters, we agreed to carry on.

So knowing she had made crazy progress and i hadnt touched mine i got to work on it yesterday morning.

and then she arrived and got her half out! Oh Dear!!!! It had grown again, she was sure i was increasing but i showed her how i did it, turned, changed colours everything and it was all right.

So there was no way we could now get these 2 to sit together so i had to tear mine out, (the 3rd thing that week).

So Nicola thought she would start me off to make sure it was the same, she chained and hooked exactly the same as she had done originally but even now it wouldnt match up.

So on sunday morning we decided that she was going to do her half and i was just gonna pick up and carry on working on hers! Its the easiest way, we didnt think of it before because we were worried about time but we are quicker than we thought.

The End

Noah and the Whale

So last night me, Rob and my sis went to see Noah and the Whale and the o2 Academy in Leeds.

I have not been to a gig for donkeys, i used to go to loads when i was at uni or generally around that time but Leeds doesnt have a arena (yet) so its always been a bit of pain. It was my first time in the Academy and i really liked it, we got to sit down which is always nice and i could see, well when the stupid teenyboppers werent in the way and it was awesome.

I absolutely didnt take my knitting

oh ok i didnt but seriously it was pitch black while we were waiting so i was super discreet and did a couple of rounds, i obviously stopped when the music was on. I think knitters just have a mind set of it i am sitting i must knit, its just how we are built.

The band was completely awesome, i have really missed live music, i guess i havent gone not just because of distance but i find other people can spoil it for you, same with the cinema, loud/tall/annoying people, but this venue was quite user friendly.

and best of all we were home by 10 so i didnt some more work on my socks lol

So generally fabby night and a few more pics to add to my October 2011, planning on printing them next weekend after my fun saturday i have planned all ready for the Sarahs Cards retreat, im gonna take September doc 2011 and October to do which might be ambitious but you never know.

Turn a Square

So I dont knit much for Rob, I tried to knit him a hat when i was still in the i will only knit crazy chunky wool, but safe to say if was huge!

Never mind the hat look at the garden! Oh My!

But this is his new lovely hat, he really likes it! Its the might Turn a Square hat which is my Jared Flood, I'm sure i will be making more of these.

Startitis

Hi peeps! So this is a new term i have learnt lately via some Podcasts I have been listening to, do you listen to any knitting ones? Im aiming to do another post on the ones i like but do share if you have some you like.

So Startitis is a term used when you want to cast loads and loads of things, so indeed i do believe this is what i have.

So what i have been casting on?

First up is the very popular Turn a Square hat, this is for Rob, this is some yarn i have had for donkeys and donkeys so a tiny dent in it.

What else? oh yes some socks, its been chilly this weekend so i cast on some socks, i was going to go with this pattern but decided its too busy for a pattern so going to knit some plain socks or as plain as this wool can be lol.

My $5 Dollars in Paris going looking really good, i have lots of the go so its not getting much attention lately but its looking fab and a easy nice in the round jumper yay!

I have started the blooming stupid chunky winter cardi again, i have a whole post of ripping out photos that make me wanna cry :( it

its now this big and im feeling like i am a long way off!

I am slowly getting there with my Crochet, ive not done any for a while though coz everything else is more appealing at the minute lol, it is a little bit further on than this but i cant find the photo.

So sometimes i just lay everything out on the floor and pick from them, i have a couple of secret knits on the go and things like that, best get the xmas knitting started lol.

So Saturday I went to some second viewings of some wedding dresses, obviously i took loads of photos but obviously you cant see them, so here is what you can see.

So as I have mentioned before me and my sister are making a blanket for my granny, we are having a few sizing/tension issues we are choosing to ignore it.

This is me and my oldest sister, she has rabbits too and the only other person in the family who would be willing to hold the bunnies, especially naughty Wilma. I like this pic, I dont have many pics of me and Helen so nice we got one just us.

So off we went to the first shop

We then headed to my friends house to pick up Vic who lives near me.

So first appointment and Helen got a bit confused as to who was getting married

she searched through the dresses, FYI Helen got married in 2003!

So first dress re tried on and as we head to the next appointment we drive through Headingly so it would be rude not to go to Baa Ram Ewe, Ive not been for 2 weeks because of stupid driving lessons so it was nice to go.

Vic is allergic to wool but was well impressed with these tiny booties

Helen (who looks very glam here) was confused why she couldnt buy the knitted items!

So time for a quick pic of my mam and her gals, it appears only Helen knew it would be sunny today, i was warm in my chunky jumper and Nicky is always cold as she is still on Auzzie weather hhhmm!

So we arrived to our next appointment early so we went to the pub over the road. It was crazy warm on saturday certainly for the middle of October!

Did I find a dress????????

YES!

I was pretty sure i found it last week but it was the last dress of the day i tried on after a long day of trying on so I wanted to make sure.

YAY!

So did i get 'the feeling' I'll be honest i still dont really get it to be honest, I love my dress and can totally see myself getting married in it but i think sometimes you just could be looking for the rest of your life.

But i cant wait to wear my dress so thats the main thing right?

Right I'm pooped!
